TRIVIUM: New Album To Surface In March
December 7, 2004Roadrunner Records has set a March 1, 2005 relase date for TRIVIUM's "Ascendancy". Featuring the talents of Matt Heafy on guitars/vocals, Travis Smith on drums, Corey Beaulieu on guitar and Paolo Gregoletto on bass, TRIVIUM is a band whose youth (Heafy is 18, the oldest member is 22) belies their sound. Currently, TRIVIUM are on the road with ILL NINO, 40 BELOW SUMMER and THE AUTUMN OFFERING previewing the songs from "Ascendancy".
Commented Heafy: "This album deals with many realizations based around this theme. Ascendancy, to me, means the overcoming of life's obstacles — to rise above everything and overcome the corruption of the world around me."
The album's artwork, created by Paul Romano (MASTODON) carries on the lyrical themes addressed throughout the album. The cover, a painting of a mythological creature coming out of its cocoon and rising from the ashes of a city below is the embodiment of "Ascendancy".
Formed in 2000 in Orlando, FL, by high school friends Travis Smith and Matt Heafy, TRIVIUM made a name on the local scene by winning several battle of the bands competitions. After various line-up changes, Beaulieu joined the group and they released "Ember To Inferno" on Germany's Lifeforce Records in 2003. Solidifying the line-up, Gregoletto joined the band for the recent Road Rage tour with CHIMAIRA and MACHINE HEAD. In addition to the Road Rage tour, TRIVIUM have toured with KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, FEAR FACTORY, ICED EARTH and others.
